FED:Asylum transfer "life or death": lawyer

The lawyer who's won an 11th hour court injunction to delay the transfer of asylum
seekers to Malaysia insists the case is a matter of life or death.

The first group of asylum seekers to be flown out under the so-called Malaysia solution
were due to depart this morning.

But that's been delayed until at least 4.30pm (AEST) after solicitor DAVID MANNE from
the Refugee and Immigration Legal Centre obtained an injunction in the High Court yesterday.

A hearing is set for 2.15pm.

Mr MANNE's told the Seven Network they're very vulnerable people and they're just asking
whether the government has the power to refuse them the ability to have their case for
refugee protection heard here.
