SYDNEY, August 4 AAP - The main stories in today's 0800 (AEST) edition of the ABC's AM program:

* A missile fell out of an aircraft over Darwin last night during an RAAF exercise,
crushing a ute. Interviews with witness Tony Travers and Centre for Strategic International
Studies spokesman.

* Formal corruption charges have been laid against former Indonesian president Soeharto
who amassed large fortunes during his three decades in power.

* Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has vowed to continue the acquisition of land
from white farmers, fuelling the current conflict.

* Federal Health Minister Michael Wooldridge is warning that in relation to Medicare,
doctors should distinguish the difference between women who are medically infertile and
socially infertile. Interview with Dr Wooldridge.

* The federal Labor Party has annoyed the Law Council of Australia by passing a motion

* Four aid workers have been arrested on charges of spying after they crossed over

* George W Bush will make an acceptance speech for his nomination for president of
the United States today.

* The Queen Mother celebrates her real 100th birthday today, the first British royal
ever to reach that age and weeks after her official birthday celebrations.
