QLD: Beattie no by election cleanskin says Watson

Queensland Liberal leader DAVID WATSON says people will remember the dirty backroom
deals which helped Labor retain power in two recent by-elections.

Dr WATSON has been under extreme pressure for the Liberals' poor showing in this month's
by-elections in Woodridge and Bundamba.

He says the Premier deserves no credit for holding two heartland Labor seats with a
bucket full of money and an intensely dishonest campaign.

The Liberals say authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding
the appointment of former Sports Minister BOB GIBBS as trade commissioner in Los Angeles.

There are also questions about the haste of the superannuation payout to former deputy
speaker BILL D'ARCY, who resigned just before being committed for trial on a series of
sex charges.
